Course content

This training day covers:

surveillance methodology
applying definitions of infection
definitions of other data items
how to interpret and use the results effectively
entering data via the web link

This training is important as consistent application of the methodology ensures that data collected are robust and allow hospitals to compare results with others undertaking the surveillance.

Who should attend?

The day is aimed at staff who are new to SSISS and those who have previously attended the training but would like to attend for a refresher. The delegates should be staff involved in surveillance co-ordination, data collection, data entry and feeding back results, although other members of staff interested in learning about SSISS may also wish to attend.

We currently, do not offer surveillance in caesarean section surgery. Please contact us before signing up for the training if you are planning on undertaking in-house surveillance of caesarean section.

The programme for the day begins with registration at 9.30am with the first session starting at 9.45am. The last session will finish at 4.30pm - please ensure your travel arrangements accommodate these start and finish times. It is essential for delegates to participate in the whole day as each section of the programme will complete your understanding of surveillance.
