Our courses are taught to a high standard. Learning is further supported by comprehensively equipped training venue and in-depth, reference quality printed course information.

IMBA® training is presented by staff who have been directly involved in its development and testing. It's a masterclass training course that's valuable learning for new and experienced IMBA® software users alike.

Typical structure of an IMBA® course

Exercises on Internal Dosimetry

  • Simple Dose Calculations: how to calculate ingestion and inhalation dose coefficients; how to create a report using IMBA®; tips to speed up calculations
  • Help Facilities in IMBA®: tour of full online documentation; quick start; help mode; where to get more information; how to obtain the latest versions; user preferences; parameter files; built in checking facilities
  • More Dose Calculations: calculations with IMBA® for ingestion of Pu-239, inhalation of a vapour, inhalation of simple and complex aerosols, doses from a wound
  • Forward Bioassay Calculations: simple bioassay calculations; introduction of Table and Graph tools; bioassay calculations for inhalation of iodine vapour
  • Estimating Intakes: estimating intakes from single and multiple measurements; estimating intakes from different data types (for example urine and whole body) simultaneously
  • Multiple Intake Regimes: calculating doses and bioassay quantities for multiple intake regimes; estimating multiple intakes from measurement data; using dates in IMBA®
  • Theoretical Case Studies: analysis of a case involving the inhalation of a caesium aerosol; analysis of a case involving the inhalation of a plutonium aerosol
  • Real Case Studies: five real life exposure cases are analysed; acute intake of HTO; acute inhalation of fission products; acute inhalation of cobalt; acute inhalation iodine; an intake of enriched uranium
