About UKHSA and Novel and Dangerous Pathogens Training

Novel and Dangerous Pathogens Training Group

The NADP Training team have dedicated facilities and staff who have been providing courses in Biosafety and Applied Microbiology since 2003 and are well respected across the UK and internationally. Our current customers include WHO, government agencies, technology companies, universities and foreign governments. In 2014/2015, during the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, we delivered specialist laboratory pre-deployment training to over 400 laboratory workers who ran the three PHE Ebola diagnostic laboratories in Sierra Leone to assist with the outbreak. We also contributed to the PPE specification and training of medical staff deployed to the UK military Ebola treatment centre at Kerrytown. In 2020, we provided training and training materials for the UK government deployment training for workers supporting COVID-19 laboratories and e-learning for Scientists running diagnostic laboratories.

We work with individuals and organisations to provide an expert training service and have a comprehensive portfolio of courses and events. Our courses are delivered throughout the year at our training laboratories within UKHSA, which include SAPO licensed Containment Level 3 laboratories, or we can bring certain courses to you at your place of work, nationally and internationally. Our trainers on the courses are subject matter experts, ensuring the content of the courses is of high quality. If a course from our portfolio doesn't meet your needs, we can use our specialist resources to design a bespoke course for you.

If you would like to discuss your specific situation, please contact us and we would be happy to advise you. Most of our training is delivered face to face with practical exercises because relating theory and practice together provides long term retention of information. Course materials, assessments and certificate of attendance are also be provided. We have also developed high quality e-learning courses to provide introductory or refresher training in the safe working practices when using Class I, II and III MSCs and we plan to expand this portfolio to include critical laboratory equipment.

NADP Training provide a wide range of high quality courses across a range of specialist subjects including:

  • Biosafety and Biocontainment
  • Microbiological isolation and characterisation
  • Potential biological deliberate release agents
  • Pathogenesis
  • Diagnostics
  • Molecular biology
