Training Courses Information

Booking online is the quickest and most effective way to book a course. We'll help if we can, please contact us to discuss.

Booking online is the quickest and most effective way to book a course. Booking through this site requires payment made by debit/credit card. If you need to pay by purchase order, please email us at nadp.training@phe.gov.uk. Payments or purchase orders (PO) not received six weeks prior to the start of the course will result in spaces being released and given to those on the waiting list. Reservations may be made, but only held for four weeks while a payment or PO is being processed.

If you are not resident in the UK then please bring your passport with you. If there is a requirement to read any safety documentation before entering the laboratory then please bring the completed forms. Everything else including PPE, training folders and resources will be provided.

Details of local hotels will be provided to you when you have made a booking.

If you cancel your booking more than 6 weeks before the course start date, you will not be charged. If you cancel your booking with less than 6 weeks' notice, your fee is not refundable, but we will endeavour to offer you an alternative date. You may transfer a booking (i.e. change the delegate) at least 72 hours before the start of the course with no charge.

There are specific requirements that need to be met upon arrival at the Porton site, such as having a photo taken for the security pass, these are detailed on the What happens on our courses? page.

NADP training

We recommend refresher training for working at containment level 3 when new or different work begins, new legislation is introduced, the laboratory worker or manager has not been active at CL3 for a period of time, or it has been several years since initial training, this is interpreted by many organisations as every 3 years.

To arrange a bespoke course please contact NADP through the contact page detailing your requirements and we will follow this up with an initial proposal, once the course content has been agreed a date and venue can be arranged.

The price includes all lectures, practical demonstrations and instruction, scenarios, discussions, a presentation pack of all the talks and supporting documents. It does not include transport, accommodation or subsistence. As of 01 April 2023, refreshment and lunch are not included in the course fee. There is a subsidised canteen on site that provides hot and cold food and beverages and also caters for a range of allergies too; open from 08.15am to 15:30pm.

The laboratories we use on courses are training laboratories that represent Containment Level 2 or 3 laboratories. We do not use live agents on the 'Biosafety Practitioner Level 1' course or on the 'Practices and Principals of Working at Containment Level 3' course. All training laboratories are fully cleaned before and after each course.

Live agents are not specifically used on courses unless the course is a live agent course; these are bespoke courses that are delivered upon request.
