Maria Polozova is a biomedical scientist with a medical degree specialising in Clinical Immunology. In 2018, as a Scientific Officer at the Grigoriev Institute for Medical Radiology and Oncology, Ukraine, she contributed to research on immunoneuroendocrine disorders in endometrial and breast cancer patients undergoing surgery and radiation therapy. In 2023, she made a career shift from clinical medicine to research-oriented path and received a grant from the Multidisciplinary European Low Dose Initiative (MELODI), which allowed her to join the Cancer Mechanisms and Biomarkers Group. Here at UKHSA, Maria focuses on gene expression analysis techniques and participates in projects studying radiation-responsive genes under various conditions to assess their potential for biological dosimetry and radiotoxicity prediction in cancer patients receiving radiation treatment.
