Stan Polozov is a biomedical scientist with a specialisation in molecular biology and bioinformatics, particularly within the realms of human transcriptomics and epitranscriptomics. Having earned his MD in clinical oncology, Stan Polozov transitioned to a more research-focused career, starting with his initial collaboration and fellowship at Public Health England in 2017. At the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), he serves as a collaborator scientist, primarily engaging with the Cancer Mechanisms and Biomarkers group under the leadership of Dr Lourdes Cruz-Garcia and Dr Christophe Badie. Stan is at the forefront of a pioneering project aimed at developing AI-driven point-of-care devices that leverage nanopore sequencing technology. This initiative seeks to enhance radiation preparedness by improving triage procedures and biological dose assessment during radiological emergencies. Furthermore, Stan is actively involved in research efforts dedicated to understanding the effects of ionising radiation and infectious diseases, such as COVID-19, on gene expression and epitranscriptomic alterations.
